At Spark Sleep Solutions, our mission is to offer comprehensive, convenient treatment for snoring and sleep apnea to patients throughout Santa Cruz, San Ramon, San Jose, and the greater South Bay area. We do more than simply offer CPAP machines, taking a full-service approach that explores all your treatment options while maintaining open communication and a commitment to full patient understanding. Our goal is to make our patients feel 100% comfortable at every stage in the treatment process, so if you’re considering treatment for sleep apnea, we’re here to explain what you can expect at your first appointment and throughout treatment.
Sleep Testing & Diagnosis
The first stage of treating sleep apnea is a diagnostic sleep study, where we’ll take a look at your breathing during sleep to determine if sleep apnea is a problem for you and how we can fix it. We know your time is valuable, so to help expedite your consultation, we kindly ask our patients to bring all of the following info with them to their first appointment:
- Your Medical Insurance Card and picture ID
- A copy of your most recent sleep study
- A referral or prescription from your primary care or sleep physician (if available)
- A copy of your dental x-rays (if available)
If you’d like to speed up your treatment on the day of your visit, you can also do so by:
- Calling us with your medical insurance information that’s on your card.
- Faxing us a copy of your most recent sleep study.
- Filling out the Office Registration and Medical History forms.
Your Treatment
We work hard to ensure that the consultation and exam process is comfortable, convenient, and completely stress-free. We’ll first review your medical history, then follow with an examination of your teeth, facial muscles, jaw, airway, and surrounding tissues. We’ll also use a Pharyngometer and Rhinometer, which are devices that most other sleep apnea doctors don’t offer. These devices will measure real-time air volume via soft sound waves to help us decide if oral appliance therapy is the right treatment for you.
After your examination, we’ll review some of your options for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). We offer a range of OSA treatments at our office, including everything from CPAP and BiPAP machines to convenient oral appliance therapy. We place a strong focus on open communication at our office, so we encourage you to ask any and all questions you may have and we’ll be sure to talk through them fully. If you decide to start treatment on the same day, we’ll initiate the process by taking impressions of your upper and lower teeth to fabricate your custom oral appliance. Most patients notice a difference shortly after starting treatment, but we’ll also verify your progress with a follow-up sleep study and a discussion with your physicians soon after starting treatment.
To help promote your comprehensive health, all of your final documentation will be relayed to your referring physician, primary care physician, and insurance.
